Wikipedia has an article on:

Bhumis are the progressive stages of development of a bodhisattva on the Bodhisattva path. It is a Sanskrit term, and the Tibetan equivalent is "sa". Each coincides with a different pāramitā or transcendental practice. Depending upon the tradition there may be anywhere from six to twenty bhumis described. In Shambhala you will more often hear ten stages and in particular the first six described.
