Wikipedia has an article on:

Bardo is a Tibetan term for the transition period between each lifetime. At the time of death one enters the bardo until taking rebirth. The Tibetan Book of the Dead details the experiences typical of the bardo. It can also refer to any transition or gap, colloquially in Shambhala.
